Phil Robertson, Duck Dynasty star and beloved patriarch of the Robertson family, has died. He was 79.

Phil Robertson‘s death comes just months after he was diagnosed with a blood disorder and Alzheimer’s disease. His family announced his death in a social media post saying, he “is now with the Lord.”

“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him,'” the statement read.

“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”

The family added that Phil’s life will be celebrated in a private service, but a public memorial will be forthcoming.

Phil Robertson Remembered: A Legacy of Faith, Family, and Final Words of Strength

Last week, Jase and Al Robertson shared a heartfelt update about their father, Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson. Speaking on their Unashamed podcast, Jase revealed that Phil’s health had been rapidly declining — both mentally and physically — and described the moment as one of quiet preparation:

“It felt like Dad was getting ready for the journey to the other side,” Jase said somberly.

A Season of Trials

In recent months, Phil’s family has kept fans informed of his and wife Kay’s ongoing health battles. Surgeries, hospitalizations, and ultimately relocating from their beloved Louisiana home have marked this season of hardship.

But through it all, Phil remained unshaken in his faith — often reflecting on eternity with a sense of calm assurance.

Phil’s Request: “Don’t Cry. Sing.”

In a 2022 episode of Unashamed, Phil addressed his mortality directly with his sons. His request was simple — and deeply in line with the faith that shaped his life:

“When I die, don’t cry. Sing. Dance. But don’t cry. When I die, you say, ‘He made it.’”

Later that year, he echoed this sentiment on his YouTube channel, speaking candidly to his fans:

“One day I’ll depart from you. You’ll read it in a paper or on that little black box — ‘Phil Robertson has died.’ Some will cry, some will rejoice. But remember this: I didn’t pass away. If you belong to Jesus, you live on. I’ll just go from ‘the tent’ to immortality.”

“He’ll resurrect my body, glorify it — and I’ll live with Him forever.”

The Family’s Farewell

In the wake of his passing, Phil’s loved ones have shared messages of remembrance and faith.

His granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, offered a touching tribute accompanied by family photos. She reflected on the spiritual transformation Phil experienced and inspired in others:

“As I was sitting with Papaw Phil today, I thought about this verse... He already experienced going from dead to alive by the power of Christ. That testimony changed his life, our family's life, and thousands of others.”

“Now he is experiencing it in fullness — fully alive in Christ. The new has come.”

Sadie also shared some of his final words to her:

“One of the last things he said to me was, ‘Full strength ahead!’”

A Life That Pointed to Christ

Phil Robertson lived unapologetically — as a man of conviction, family, and unshakable faith. He built a brand, a ministry, and a family rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ. His impact reached far beyond reality TV, resonating with those seeking truth, transformation, and hope.

He didn’t just speak about the next life — he lived with eternity in mind.

As his family carries forward his legacy, we remember not just the man, but the message he lived by:

“Don’t cry. Sing. He made it.”

Another granddaughter, Bella Mayo, wrote, “My papaw Phil is now where he always longed to be — with God, his Father. I miss him already & can not wait to see him again one day.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Robertson family during this difficult time.
