A cat dies and goes to heaven

When the old farm cat finally passed on after a long, dusty life chasing mice and curling up by wood stoves, he found himself at the Pearly Gates.

God greeted him warmly, smiling down at the weathered feline. “Welcome, my child. You’ve lived a good life—loyal, patient, and kind.”

The cat blinked up at Him, still adjusting to the soft glow of Heaven.

“You’ve earned your reward,” God continued. “Anything you desire, anything at all—just ask, and it shall be yours.”

The cat thought for a moment, then said, “Well, I lived all my days with a poor family down on a small farm. Good folks. But I always had to sleep on cold, hard wooden floors. Never once had a real bed of my own.”

God chuckled gently. “Say no more.”

With a snap of His fingers, a luxurious, velvet-covered pillow appeared—fluffier than a cloud and warmed by a beam of heavenly light. The cat immediately sank into it, purring contentedly.

A few days later, six mice arrived at the gates—tails twitching, eyes wide with wonder.

God welcomed them with the same kindness. “You too have crossed over, little ones. And just like everyone else, you may have anything your hearts desire.”

The mice huddled together, whispering frantically, before stepping forward as their tiny spokesperson squeaked out, “All our lives we’ve been running. From cats, dogs, people with brooms—you name it. We never knew a moment’s peace.”

“If we could just get a pair of roller skates—each of us—we might finally be able to glide instead of flee.”

God smiled. “Say no more.”

And with that, each mouse found themselves fitted with a shiny pair of custom-made, golden roller skates. They zipped off into the clouds, squealing with glee, free at last.

A week passed.

God, ever the gracious host, decided to check in on the old cat. He found him sprawled across his pillow, snoring softly in the afternoon sun.

“Hello, my friend,” God said, gently nudging him awake. “How are you enjoying Heaven?”

The cat yawned, stretched lazily, and blinked up with utter bliss.

“Oh, Lord,” he purred. “I’ve never been happier in all my lives…”

He licked a paw and added with a satisfied sigh, “These Meals on Wheels you keep sending over are just divine.”
