This Woman’s Husband…

A woman was home alone one afternoon when she heard a knock at the door. She opened it to find a man standing there, looking a bit odd and nervous. “Do you know where the library is?” he asked. Taken aback by the strange question, she frowned and slammed the door in disbelief.

The next morning, the knock returned. Same man, same question: “Do you know where the library is?” She rolled her eyes, muttered about people being lost these days, and shut the door again.

That evening, she told her husband about the strange encounters. Concerned but trying not to laugh, he said, “Honey, I’ll take tomorrow off just in case this guy comes back. We’ll figure out what’s going on.”

The following morning, they both heard the knock. Her husband whispered, “I’ll hide behind the door and see what he wants. You answer, and we’ll play along.” She nodded.

When she opened the door, the man looked even more nervous than before. “Do you know where the library is?” he asked again.

“Yes,” she said with a straight face.

The man brightened. “Oh! Finally! I’ve been looking for this place for days. I just moved to the neighborhood and… I have a book delivery I need to return. Can you point me in the right direction?”

The couple burst out laughing. What had seemed mysterious and frustrating for two days was really just a man completely lost—and slightly desperate for directions.

From that day on, they kept an eye out for him, occasionally waving from their porch when he walked by. It became a running joke: the couple and the “mysterious visitor” who turned out to be nothing more than a lost neighbor looking for the library.
