A curious mother-in-law decided she wanted to find out just how kind-hearted her three sons-in-law really were. Rather than asking questions or waiting for years of observation, she came up with a simple—and dramatic—test.
First, she invited the eldest son-in-law for a peaceful walk along the river. The sun was shining, the water was calm, and everything felt perfectly ordinary. Suddenly, without warning, she jumped into the river, splashing wildly and pretending to drown.
The eldest son-in-law didn’t hesitate for a second. He leapt into the water, swam straight to her, and pulled her safely back onto the shore.
The next morning, when he stepped outside his house, he was stunned. Parked in his driveway was a brand-new Toyota Corolla. Taped to the windshield was a note that read:
“From your loving Mother-in-Law.”
A few days later, she tried the same test with the second son-in-law. Once again, they went for a quiet walk by the river. And once again, she suddenly jumped into the water, calling for help.
Without hesitation, the second son-in-law jumped in and rescued her, soaking wet but relieved she was safe.
The following morning, he too found a brand-new Toyota Corolla parked outside his house, complete with a note that said:
“From your loving Mother-in-Law.”
Finally, it was time for the third son-in-law. She invited him for the same peaceful stroll by the river. Everything unfolded just as before—until she suddenly leapt into the water.
This time, the third son-in-law simply stood on the riverbank. He watched for a moment, chuckled to himself… then turned around and walked away.

A mother invited several guests over for dinner one evening. As everyone gathered around the table, she turned to her six-year-old daughter and asked sweetly,
“Would you like to say the blessing tonight?”
The little girl hesitated. “I don’t know what to say,” she replied.
“That’s okay,” her mother smiled. “Just say what you hear Mommy say.”
The girl bowed her head, folded her hands, and said earnestly,
“Lord… why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?”
